Long time gone

Soooo...with grad school, a little one, and teaching full-time, I have completely neglected my blog. What have we been up to lately? Well, I finally finished the SLIS program at IUPUI and am now the proud owner of a master's degree that I am not using. School library jobs are non-existant in Indianapolis right now as are public library jobs (at least ones that will pay what I am currently earning). I have contemplated going out of state (South!) for a position at an academic library, but that seems foolish in light of the fact that I have a good job here. It is also somewhat scary - I mean, what would I do if totally suck? So leaving for warmer climes is on the back burner for now. We will see what happens to the township and if our referendum passes. Most probably it will not, but I think my job is safe regardless. (I hope.)

Other than graduating, I have been doing the usual -- mommy stuff, reading, house stuff, church stuff, and teaching - nothing new or exciting. As of Thanksgiving, I have started running again. I did a crappy 38:43 5K in beautiful (ha!) Lima, OH. It was cool and raining, and I was extremely disappointed in the fact that there were NO BANANAS at the end of the race (although they did have some lovely hot chocolate). The run was difficult for me, and I am sad to admit that I had to walk a great deal of the course. I was also quite sore the rest of the day, but I was a trooper and did not allow that to interfere with my consumption of turkey, gravy, and pie. In the week since then, I have run a couple of times. I really am trying to become more consistent, and I would love to get back into shape again. My next planned race is the 5Ks of Christmas on Dec. 18. We will see if my time gets any better.

Tim has had a little more going on than I have. In October of 2009, he lost his job with Qdoba. He tried to sell insurance with AFLAC, but nothing came of it, and he ended up having to collect unemployment. After hundreds of resume postings, lots of phone calls, and several interviews, he was finally hired by Family Dollar in July of 2010. We are getting back on our feet and things are starting to look up for us.

Paisley is growing and growing! She is still a tiny little peanut, but she has developed quite the personality! My "brother in law" Chad says that she is a diva in training. She has very definite opinions about almost everything and is very strong willed. (I have NO idea where that comes from!) Right now, she is recovering from a cold and nasty cough, but is otherwise quite happy and healthy.

I will try to do a better job of updating. TTFN!

End of the Year Party

Tonight, we celebrated the end of another school year. Tim had to close tonight, so unfortunately, he couldn't come with us. We had a great time at the Dodds house - good friends, a hog roast, and lots of scrumptious side dishes. Paisley was a little slow to warm up to everyone, but eventually, she came out of her shell and had a blast playing with the other kids. She was a little groggy from a nap in the car, but once Elizabeth started talking to her, she was ready to go. Elizabeth (who is going to be 4 in a month) was a very gracious hostess and was extremely excited to be able to lead Paisley around and show her where everything was. When Ethan opened up his play tunnel, Paisley was completely enthralled. I will have to go to Gymboree and get one. She had a fit when I took her away from it! Luckily, I was able to soothe her with a delicious brownie. Paisley LOVES chocolate - what can I say, she is definitely my girl! Time to get my girl in the bath tub now-she is sticky from all of the yummy treats.

Easter 2009

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to add some pictures. Bob and Kathy (grandpa and grandma) came for the weekend to celebrate Easter. After church, we hid some eggs in the backyard, and Paisley had a blast looking for them. Since I don't want her to eat too much candy, I put little toys and some shiny rocks in the plastic eggs. She absolutely loved them! I am so glad that my little girl is a rock hound like me!

Beginning

I am starting this blog to help our family and friends stay updated on our latest escapades. I will add pictures and videos as I get better at this. My hope is that this blog will allow all of you to see how much fun we are having as Paisley grows up! She is changing so fast and everyday she seems to be getting smarter, funnier, and more beautiful. We are truly blessed to have such a sweet, loving little girl!
